Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR)
Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) is an evidence‑based, trauma‑informed therapy that supports people in processing distressing memories and reducing the emotional intensity associated with past experiences. EMDR helps the brain integrate information more adaptively, allowing people to develop new insights, emotional steadiness, and a greater sense of internal safety. EMDR uses bilateral stimulation to support the brain’s natural information‑processing system. This may involve using alternating tactile pulses, following gentle eye movements, or engaging in therapist‑guided self-tapping.
Christina offers EMDR through both standard and extended sessions. Her approach integrates EMDR with parts work, mindfulness, and self‑compassion, supporting people to work at a pace that feels grounded and manageable. EMDR can be helpful for trauma, stress, anxiety, depression, and other experiences where past events continue to influence present‑day wellbeing.
In some circumstances, EMDR reprocessing may not be recommended until additional stabilisation, support, or preparatory work is completed. This will be discussed with you during an initial phone call or consultation.
